In 2013 many of the residents within Thayer County were asked to participate in a Community Health Needs Assessment. The following report was put together based on the results.
Please contact Nebraska legislators in the House of Representatives and ask them to support H.R. 4188, Establishing Beneficiary Equity in the Hospital Readmission Program Act.
The House bill would ease readmissions penalties for hospitals that treat many low-income seniors. Rural hospitals such as, Thayer County Health Services, treat a high percentage of patients eligible for Medicare and Medicaid. This bill would prevent many rural hospitals from being unfairly targeted under the Affordable Care Act, which implemented penalties for hospitals with readmissions rates above an acceptable threshold.
This bill is supported by the American Hospital Association (AHA).
